Cities of Salt - New Opera in Development

This week, we finished the post-production phase of the CITIES OF SALT Workshop - Film shoot. The creation of this promo for the new opera in development has been an extraordinary roller coaster ride.

Based on the novel (with the same name) by Abdelrahman Munif, librettists Yvette Christiansë & Rosalind Morris wrote a wonderfully strong libretto that had a workshop at American Opera Projects in Brooklyn in 2012. Syrian composer Zaid Jabri has written some amazing music already and we are looking forward to find funding and producing partners so he can continue to write music and we can further develop this exciting project. Designer Nico de Rooij is the final member of the creative team and he was in charge of the design for the film shoot that took place in the ISSUE Project Room in Brooklyn in December 2013.

It's truly been a blessing and a delight to work with all the cast and crew involved and the result of this workshop is really remarkable. I'm excited to continue the journey and to see Cities of Salt's next steps... Stay tuned!
